Alergy

Allergy is a deviant reaction of the body's defense mechanism against substances or materials that are normally harmless to the body, and involve the immune system, especially immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies. Allergies are not an infectious disease, but a person's tendency to suffer from allergies can be influenced by two factors, namely genetic (innate) and environmental factors.

 These two factors are interrelated so that they can cause an allergic reaction. Allergic diseases that are dominated by genetic factors are known as atopic allergies. The risk of a child will be greater if the parents also have a history of atopy. A person who does not have a family history of suffering from allergies, can experience allergic reactions, and is generally caused by environmental factors, such as house dust, changes in weather, pollen, pet dander, certain foods, and so on. Environmental factors that play a role in triggering allergic reactions are referred to as allergens. Allergens can enter the body through various channels, especially the respiratory tract (inhalants) and the gastrointestinal tract (ingestion).

 To find out the possibility of an allergic reaction in a person's body, it can be done by checking the level of IgE in the blood

 Allergy testing, especially atopic allergies, is highly recommended for people with allergic tendencies and/or a family history of allergies, as well as pregnant women with a history of certain allergies so that allergen exposure in newborns can be prevented as early as possible.

 Atopy allergy testing, namely IgE Atopy, can now be done with our partner, Prodia Clinical Laboratory. IgE Atopy examination is a useful test to detect the presence of specific IgE in the blood against 20 types of allergens at once, namely: Imperata grass, wheat plant, Birch tree, Mugwort, cat, dog, horse, egg white, milk, house dust mites , cod, wheat flour, rice, soybeans, hazelnuts, carrots, potatoes, apples, Alternaria alternata, and Cladosporium herbaru.
